Kochouseph Chittilappilly Vice Chairman Wonderla ncpipc

Mr. Kochouseph Chittilappilly, Chairman Emeritus of Wonderla Amusement Parks & Resort, was born in 1950 in Thrissur District, Kerala, and holds a Master's Degree in Physics. At the age of 27, the industrialist in him took shape with a borrowed capital of Rs. 1,00,000 from his father to set up a small manufacturing facility for stabilisers. He set about manufacturing the V-Guard brand of stabilisers.

In the year 2000 he started an amusement park in Kochi (Veegaland, later as Wonderla ) which has become one of the most attractive destinations in Kerala. The success story made him to build another park in Bengaluru in 2005, presently the biggest amusement park in India. A third park in the chain was started in Hyderabad in 2016 and the fourth park at Chennai is getting formalized.

He then founded 'The Thomas Chittilappilly Trust' in memory of his late father, C.O. Thomas. It is an extension of the philanthropic and responsible values espoused at V-Guard. It is dedicated to extending its reach to areas of health, education and care. The trust provides health insurance cover for over 2,300 families from financially backward classes, across Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The trust has also made substantial contributions to NGO's working for various social welfare causes.

Mr. Kochouseph used to jot down inspirational thoughts over the years. This was then authored into a book called Practical Wisdom -1, a practical management guide that would come in handy to entrepreneurs, managers and management students alike. Due to popular demand it was also translated into Malayalam. The second edition Practical Wisdom -2 was also launched recently. He has also compiled a collection of his childhood memories in a book called 'Ormakillivathil'. The experience of donating a kidney is also taking shape in the form of another book, 'The Gift'.

He was also been bestowed with 'Samman Pathra Award' by Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Finance for being a top income tax payer. The theme park in Kerala has also been the recipient of Kerala State Pollution Control Award, Kerala State Tourism Award (The most eco-friendly tourism project), Kerala State Energy Conservation Award, apart from others.
